Planting up patio containers

Plant up a classic combination of edibles and ornamentals in your patio pots and containers.

We are going to show you how to plant up some fantastic pots for your patio, we are partnering runner beans and nasturtiums.

You will need:

– Large pot/container

– Canes (one per plant)

Step one

Make sure you choose the largest pot you can. Canes (one per plant) need to be secured. Note the hooks I have attached to keep things in place. Use garden twine to tie the canes.

Step two

Fill the container with multipurpose compost or veg-specific growing media. This should help secure canes in place. Leave enough room to accommodate the plant root balls.

Step three

Plant the runners against a cane and place the nasturtiums in between them. Water well. Keep an eye on developing runners so they grow up their allotted cane.
